A prominent Bradford councillor says he is looking forward to contributing to a conference on child poverty this week.
Councillor Ralph Berry, Bradford Council’s executive member for education, will take part in the event at the University of Bradford.
The event, called Tackling Poverty in Bradford, will be held on Wednesday from 1pm to 4.30pm.
Among the questions to be discussed will be the issue of whether or not social work and social care can influence change?
The event is organised by students from the Division of Social Work and Social Care at the University of Bradford and is open to practitioners, staff, students, service users and academics.
The conference will hear from speakers, Michael Lavalette, Professor of Social Work at Liverpool Hope University, Cindy Peek, Deputy Director of Bradford Children's Services, responsible for Bradford's Child Poverty Strategy and Neil Heard, Bradford Alliance for Community Care.
There will also be an opportunity for questions and answers, workshop sessions and stalls from frontline projects based in Bradford.
Places are free but limited and must be booked in advance.
