Networks linking older people with groups that can provide help are to be set up in Keighley.
Older People Mutual Support Networks already work successfully in other parts of Bradford district.
Julie Lintern, Keighley's older people’s development manager, is now preparing to start groups in the BD20, 21 and 22 areas.
The five existing networks involve 53 organisations that provide services or activities for older people. Each network is led by the needs of its community and helps spread information or identify gaps in service provision.
Networks have tackled issues like dementia, transport and hospital discharge procedures Julie said: “They have also helped to identify concerns within communities, for example the need to focus on depression in older people."
Networks for the three Keighley postcode areas will start shortly. Meeting dates will be added to the DIVA community database at divabradford.org.uk. More details are available from Julie on (01535) 665258.
