Cupcake Queen Roxy Iqbal is baking sweet treats for the Telegraph & Argus Children’s Secret Santa Appeal.

The 28-year-old, who has just started her Cakerox business in Bradford, offered to get busy in the kitchen to help raise funds for the appeal supporting the district’s poorest children.

The T&A has teamed up with Bradford-based Human Relief Foundation to encourage readers and businesses to give funds to buy presents for hundreds of youngsters who might not otherwise have gifts to open on Christmas morning.

Schemes across the city being supported so far include Barnardo’s Young Carers Service, The Gateway Children’s Centre in Ravenscliffe and some looked-after children in the care of Bradford Social Services.

Miss Iqbal, who is a regular HRF volunteer, will be at Manningham Mills Christmas Fair tomorrow selling her specially-designed cupcakes.

She said: “There will be lots of santas and presents on them, green and red and plenty of sparkle – an explosion of all things Christmas. Cake puts a smile of people’s faces and I’m hoping by coming along and buying my cupcakes people will be helping put plenty of smiles on children’s faces too on Christmas morning.

“It’s great to get involved with the appeal and it’s great that it’s so local. I do lots of charity work but it’s good to know it’s actually having an impact right here at home for a change.”

Roxy has already had commissions for other charity and business events.

She added: “I hope I’m setting a good example to other businesses how they should get involved too.”

Hanq’s Diner in Rooley Lane has also given four meal vouchers valued at £25 which will be part of a raffle at tomorrow’s Christmas Fair in Manningham and a meal for two has been donated by Zaara’s of Saltaire.
