Racial justice group JUST West Yorkshire is hosting a Police and Crime Commissioners hustings in Bradford on Wednesday.
The event will give communities an opportunity to quiz the four West Yorkshire candidates directly on policing priorities.
Early polling suggests low awareness of the forthcoming elections and little understanding of the role of police commissioners.
The candidates are Mark Burns-Williamson (Labour), Geraldine Carter (Conservative), Andrew Marchington (Lib Dems) and independent Cedric Christie.
