rom pointing pop star to award-winning fashion designer, Victoria Beckham has undergone a serious image evolution.

She’s achieved the near-impossible, fashioning a credible design career and becoming a bona fide style icon in the process. Victoria, or VB as she’s now known, currently has 7.5 million Twitter followers, two successful fashion lines, a global e-boutique and new standalone store tucked under her fashion belt.

Turning 40 on Thursday, her milestone birthday gives us the perfect excuse to take a peek back into Posh’s famous wardrobe – the hits, the misses, and her new, laid-back aesthetic. Happy birthday, Mrs Beckham.

2014: Greeting the front row at the finale of her Fall 2014 catwalk, Victoria goes low-key at her fashion shows so she's not detracting from her latest collection. She takes a bow in minimalist all-black separates accessorised with pointed courts.

2013: Victoria Beckham sure loves black. Unsurprisingly, it's the favoured colour of the fashion pack but she puts a twist on the classic LBD by wearing a chic, strapless jumpsuit on the Glamour Awards red carpet.

2012: Putting on her Posh hat, Victoria attends the opening night of the Viva Forever! musical. Her Spice Girls bandmates turn up in glam frocks; she poses alone wearing pared-down cigarette trousers, a white shirt and burgundy overcoat thrown over her shoulders.

2011: Victoria didn't only bag an invite to the Royal Wedding of Kate and Wills, she successfully navigated the formal dress code while heavily pregnant with daughter Harper. She chose to wear her own navy design and pair of customised sky-high Louboutins.

2010: Looking put-together at the airport is a skill Victoria has undeniably mastered. She stands out from weary Heathrow travellers in red shift dress, arm candy bag and oversized sunglasses to disguise the jet lag.

2009: A turning point for her newly launched design career, Victoria is invited to the British Fashion Awards. She silences critics by looking sensational on the red carpet in a black gown from her Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

2008: Brand VB is in full swing. Victoria poses outside Harvey Nichols to promote her new perfume range wearing white a pencil dress with curious fluffy contrast back.

2007: Moving to LA for husband David's football career brings a brighter colour palette and short blonde bob. Victoria goes matchy-matchy in hot pink Roland Mouret Moon dress and matching Birkin bag.

2006: Who can forget the WAG-tastic World Cup fever of summer 2006? Queen Bee VB led the pack in Baden-Baden, equipped with a full head of extensions, tiny denim hotpants, and another trusty Hermes Birkin.

2005: One of her most memorable red carpet dresses, Victoria Beckham dressed up like porcelain in Roberto Cavalli for Elton John's White Tie and Tiara Ball. The distinctive blue and white gown was instantly nicknamed the 'Ming Vase Dress'.

2004: In a rare display of colour and print, Victoria steps out for the ballet wearing a Dolce & Gabbana dress with plunging neckline to flaunt her perma tan.

2003: Her first foray into fashion saw Victoria going a little street to promote Rocawear. She swapped her Posh black pencil dress for ripped denim and bomber jackets as the face of the brand.

2002: VB kept a low profile in 2002 while pregnant with Romeo. But, when she was seen, she went through a winter white stage, wearing flared trousers and matching tailored coat to open the Harrods January sale.

2001: Undoubtedly Victoria's dodgiest style era. While performing songs like Out Of Your Mind, she favoured a series of headscarf and leather looks that took her out of her glam comfort zone.

2000: Posh was way ahead of the colour clash trend. You couldn't miss her at the VH1 Fashion Awards teaming hot pink and orange with her trademark long bob.
