Heckmondwike’s popular acoustic night season continues this weekend with performances from a range of acts.
Edinburgh singer Simon Kempston (pictured) has rubbed shoulders with the likes of Martin Stephenson, Martin Simpson, Hayseed Dixie, Dervish and Luka Bloom, and performed at a variety of festivals.
A prolific songwriter, he is said to be influences as much by world affairs as by affairs of the heart.
Also appearing is Jeff Butterfield who finds a fine balance between up-tempo bluesy numbers and heart-wrenching ballads. From the insistent hook of Girl On A Train to the cinematic journey of The Film That I’m Watching, his songs showcase Americana and roots music at its best.
Andy And Lee return to Heckmondwike, after performing at the closing night of the town’s July acoustic festival.
Also making a welcome return are rousing Yorkshire-based Celtic folk band Mahogany Monkey, Chris Martin, and two regular acts, Jasmine Kennedy and Finola.
Entry at the Comrades Club, Regent Street, Heckmondwike, is free and doors open at 7pm.
