The new Bradford orchestral season focuses on the music of Austria and its capital city, Vienna.
The programme includes the popular Halle New Year Viennese Concert, The Mozarteum Orchestra of Salzburg presenting three Viennese masterpieces, and a first-time visit from the Vienna Tonkunstler Orchestra.
Bradford Theatres’ resident orchestra, the Halle, opens the 2010-11 season on October 1 with a concert performed under the baton of distinguished music director Sir Mark Elder.
The Halle returns to close the season next May, performing music by Mahler, a leading figure in the Viennese musical world at the turn of the last century. The Halle will also present its popular New Year Viennese concert in January.
The season also features the Orchestra of Opera North and the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio.
World-renowned cellist Julian Lloyd Webber opens Bradford’s International Chamber season at Bradford Cathedral.
The season presents classical music from acts including the Vienna Mozart Trio, the St Petersburg Quartet and Bradford Festival Choral Society, which has four concerts including the Family Christmas Celebration concert.
