THE world famous St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra returns to Bradford next week.
Russia’s oldest orchestra brings a programme of popular and moving music, starting in stirring form with the Karelia Suite by Sibelius, known for its rough-hewn folk inspiration, followed by two pieces by Tchaikovsky; his Piano Concerto No1, one of his most famous and most recognisable concertos, and his Symphony No.6.
The concert is conducted by Vladimir Altschuler and features Japanese pianist Norika Ogawa (pictured), who has gained international renown since her success at the 1987 Leeds Piano Competition.
The St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra is at St George’s Hall on February 13 at 7.30pm. For tickets, call (01274) 432000.
