Welcome to the Richard Attenborough Film Awards (RAFAS), the UK's annual regional Film Of The Year awards - the film industry's celebration of the year's top films and movie stars as voted for by regional newspaper film critics and cinemagoers alike.
This year, we are sponsoring the public award category - where you decide the winner! We want you to choose your favourite film star of 2010, one of the most spectacular years in movie history ever. To help you vote, we've narrowed down your choices to 5 actresses and 5 actors who we believe gave the best performances of the year.
Simply vote for your favourite actress and favourite actor in the ballots below. The actress or actor with the most votes overall will be crowned Film Star of 2010. Voting closes at noon on Monday December 6, with the winner announced on Monday December 13.

Noomi Rapace in The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet’s Nest
Salander is plotting her revenge against the man who tried to kill her, and against the government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life. But it is not going to be a straightforward campaign. After taking a bullet to the head, Salander is under close supervision in Intensive Care, and is set to face trial for three murders and one attempted murder on her eventual release. With the help of journalist Mikeal Blomkvist and his researchers at Millennium magazine, Salander must not only prove her innocence, but identify and denounce the corrupt politicians that have allowed the vulnerable to become victims of abuse and violence. Once a victim herself, Salander is now ready to fight back.

But the meteoric success of the site comes at a cost with broken friendships, bitter rivalries and controversial decisions. Jesse Eisenberg plays Zuckerberg, alongside Justin Timberlake and rising British star Andrew Garfield.
George Clooney in The American
A professional assassin (George Clooney), disillusioned with the job he performs with ruthless efficiency, prepares for one last hit before leaving that life behind. Others, however, favour a more final retirement plan as the hunter becomes the hunted even while he deals with deeper existential questions in this stylish thriller from Control director Anton Corbijn. Slow burning suspense, sumptuous locations and the ever charismatic Clooney are ingredients that lend this movie an irresistible flavour.
Leonardo DiCaprio in Shutter Island
“Shutter island” is the story of two U.S. marshals, Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo), who are summoned to a remote barren island off the coast of Massachusetts to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from the island’s fortress-like hospital for the criminally insane.

Robert Downey Jr in Iron Man 2
In ‘Iron Man 2’ The world is aware that billionaire inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is the armoured Super Hero Iron Man. Under Pressures from the government, the press and the public share his technology with the military, Tony is unwilling to divulge the secrets behind the Iron Man armor because he fears the information will slip into the wrong hands. With Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), and James “Rhodey” Rhodes ( Don Cheadle) at his side, Tony Forges new alliances and confronts powerful new forces.
The RAFAs are dedicated to Richard Attenborough, who was born in Cambridge but spent his childhood in Leicester. He made his screen debut in the 1942 Noel Coward/David Lean film, In Which We Serve, while still a student at RADA. Among the films in which he appeared are Brighton Rock, The Great Escape, Jurassic Park and Miracle on 34th Street. In 1969 came the first of his twelve movies as producer/ director, Oh, What a Lovely War. He is undoubtedly best known for Gandhi, 1982 winner of eight Oscars and five BAFTAs, including Best Picture and Best Director on both sides of the Atlantic. Lord Attenborough CBE is Chair or President of numerous media industry bodies and charities.
