SIR - In response to the recent T&A article looking back on the Gaumont: I remember many shows there in the 60s.
The best one I saw was my first visit - it was Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochran. Eddie was great, closing the first half of the show.
Gene came on to close the show at which he was booed of the stage with: “We want Eddie”.
Eddie was killed in a car crash in Bristol on Easter Day. What a loss, he was great.
At the Everly Brothers, Little Richard and Bo Diddley Show, Little Richard came down in to the audience and shook my hand - something I never forgot!
I was a Chuck Berry Fan too, saw him a few times with his 'duck walk'.
The Beatles I saw at the Rialto York when they were third on the bill with Chris Montez and Tommy Roe.
The 60s was the best time at the Gaumont, not the Odeon - that was up Manchester Road!
