SIR- Dr Karen D Thornton defends the BBC TV licence fee in her T&A column, saying that it is reasonable compared to what you get with Sky, Netflix and Amazon. But the difference is that the BBC licence has not been optional if you have a TV. Even if you never watch the BBC.
There is also a political factor as well. It's like being forced to pay a licence fee towards the Guardian newspaper even if you never read it and watch GB News instead.
