The charity food sale was held recently on a day after school

"It went really well," said Imran Rasool, a behaviour support worker at Lady Royd Primary School. "It was for the parents, children, staff and the community. We sold out of everything.

"As part of Ramadan and with food being a big part of the Eid festival, the children felt sorry for the victims of the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria and they wanted to do something for them."

Mr Rasool explained that a number of businesses donated food to the school and the children sold it to raise as much money as they could.

Businesses donating food to Lady Royd included MyLahore, Raja's Pizza Bar, Mr T's, Shanndar Sweets, Regal, Chaiiwala, Icestone Gelato and Waterstone Partnership Solicitors.
