PLANS to create hundreds of extra places at two schools in the Bradford district have been given the go-ahead.
Executive members approved the publishing of statutory proposals to increase pupil admission numbers at both Carlton Bolling College in Bradford and Low Ash Primary School in Shipley.
The 11-to-16 admission numbers at Carlton Bolling, recently rated by Ofsted as outstanding, would rise from 240 to 300 in September next year, with the school’s sixth form closing.
Pupil admissions at Low Ash, rated as good, would rise from 60 to 90, increasing its capacity from 420 to 630 by from September 2019.
Councillor Imran Khan, portfolio holder for education on Bradford Council, said: “These proposals will allow two strong schools to expand. This is about making sure we have the places that we need.”
