A team of volunteers has built an outdoor performance area at Westminster Primary School in Undercliffe, Bradford.
The new stage doubles up as an outdoor classroom and will encourage pupils to develop speaking and listening skills.
It will be used for story-telling sessions and theatrical productions, including a forthcoming performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Staff at Yorkshire Building Society’s head office in Bradford got their hands dirty for the cause as part of the employers Actionteering community volunteering scheme.
A team visited the school in the summer to lay the groundwork for a sensory garden as part of the Grow, Learn and Create Project, funded by the Bradford North Area Committee.
Helen Sykes, of Westminster School, said: “The children are thrilled with the new stage. We’re placing a real focus on speaking and listening skills throughout the school this year and we’re grateful to the volunteers for helping us to offer a new way for children to learn outdoors.”
