EXPECT Distribution is a family owned and run logistics company offering a refreshing and dynamic approach to warehousing, contract logistics and palletised distribution with a turnover of more than £24.2 million in 2017.

The company is a solutions based business, pro-active in working with its clients to deliver their product via the most appropriate channels, delivering value and building trust.

“People think it’s about running vehicles from A to B. It’s far more complex than that," said managing director Neil Rushworth.
“There is always a different challenge every day.”

Staff training is an important element to the business.

There is an extended induction period for new drivers over a two week schedule and an in-house driver trainer delivering driver Certificate of Professional Competence courses.

The trainer has delivered CPC courses to a total of 136 drivers covering 10 modules and also delivered to warehouse operatives on a safe loading module.

Expect has an apprenticeship recruitment police of four new recruits per annum. The current assistant transport manager was recruited through this scheme.

It also has year placements and subsequent recruitment from Huddersfield University.

There are driver open days four times a year, achieving 42 applications for employment in 2017.

The business is always looking to expand. Currently it operates from three sites, two of them in Bradford with the main office situated near the M606 to give easy access to the motorway network.

It has invested £12 million in the last seven years on development of the head office and there has been a £1.7 million site expansion completed with a new lorry part facility and warehouse extension.

New contracted business wins including Card Factory and UK Thermos contributing £4.5m turnover annualised.

The company has added a further seven longer semi-trailers saving 250 trucks each year with an annual cost saving of £62,500.
