A 19th century Georgian home will open its doors to the public next week as a Bed and Breakfast following a two-year renovation.

Grove House, in Hamsterley, Teesdale, is a six-bedroom property set in two acres of garden and woodland.

It is home to Kay Cole, a charity worker, and Graham Turner, a retired design engineer, who purchased the house in June 2016, with the intention of turning it into a business.

The pair have worked tirelessly to retain original features throughout the home whilst also carrying out essential upgrades to plumbing and lighting.

There are three double bedrooms available to let on a bed and breakfast basis, all of which are en-suite with modern bathrooms and either a bath or a walk-in shower.

Ms Cole said: "We were originally looking for a property in France, but as soon as we viewed this we looked at each other and we just knew.

"We adore the wildlife here, from deer and squirrels to woodpeckers and owls, there is a lot to enjoy. I love the garden, it is so peaceful."

Mr Turner added: "We are looking forward to opening our home and welcoming guests to stay with us, we want to share the tranquility that we have here.

"We are in the middle of nowhere but in the centre of everything, whether you're visiting to see Kynren or walking in the forest or even visiting Durham City Centre.

"We want to shout about the North-East and the beautiful countryside we have."
