A main road had to be sealed off during the evening rush hour after a blaze broke out.
Fire crews were called to reports of a burning building in the city’s student quarter shortly after 5pm tonight.
Bystanders looked on as smoke issued from the top storey windows of the derelict building at the junction of Morley Street and Claremont.
Police cordoned off a section of Morley Street. Onlookers said they believed the property had been occupied by squatters.
