Ilkley youngster James Woodward (No 77) heads the early pacesetters on his way to winning the year six boys race at the 13th annual Bradford Schools Cross-Country Challenge at Myrtle Park in Bingley yesterday.
The Westville House School pupil was among over 700 children who took part in ten races for nine to 18-year-olds over varying distances.
Everyone who completed their race received a medal from organisers Bingley Harriers and awards were presented to the first three home in each age group.
Other winners: Year five – girls: Tassy Heslop (Moorfield, Ilkley); boys: Emerson James (Bradford Grammar). Year six – girls: Keri Holland (Steeton). Years seven & eight – girls: Natalie Brown (Bradford Grammar); boys: James Hall (Bingley Grammar). Years nine & ten – girls: Eilidh Sproul (Sedbergh, Cumbria); boys: Faisal Ishmail (Ermysted’s Grammar). Years 11, 12 & 13 – girls: Carly Robertson (Oakbank, Keighley); boys: Thomas Crowley (St Bede’s Grammar).
