  • Pupils at Skipton’s Water Street School acted as guides to former students who were invited back to chat about their school days. 
Pupils invited those who attended the school in the 1940s, 1950s, 1960s and 1970s to a special coffee morning.
  • Village gardener and healthy food champion Steve Thorpe gave awards to winners in the Haworth in Bloom. Lilian Evans, of Belle Isle Road, won the garden of the year, Njoy hair stylists, the business section and Amy Thorpe the tallest sunflower.
  • Hundreds of special stars made City Hall’s Christmas tree dazzle as people remembered absent loved ones or said ‘thank you’ to those who had made a difference during the year. A record number of Christmas Stars were hung for the Lord Mayor's Appeal.
  • A plaque has been made in honour of Polish airman Antoni Ulicki who fought in the longest air battle in the Second World War, and whose remains were only located 23 years after he died, following a campaign in the Telegraph & Argus.
  • Folk and fishing came together for a lively charity fundraising event in an Otley town centre. 
The big name who had been hooked at the Kirkgate Arcade was folk singer, comedian and broadcaster Mike Harding, who signed copies of his new fishing book.
  • Children across Central and Eastern Europe will have a brighter Christmas thanks to the efforts of pupils from Keelham Primary School.
They are helping the Rotary Shoebox Scheme, which sends out toys, toiletries and household goods to those in need.
  • The young ones shone at a five-a-side soccer tournament at Zara Sports Centre at Belle Vue Girls’ School.
Year Four Five and Six pupils were competing, and the competition was won by Lidget Green, who beat Heaton 4-0 in the final.
