Lynne Goodwin e-mails: My father was born to a Martha Farnell in 1929 in Belle Vue Manningham Bradford.
She was born in 1906 to John and Emily Farnell ( nee Kitchenman) in Halifax. She was the eldest of 4 children. Unfortunately Emily died in 1918 and Martha and her siblings were sent to Craigie Lee Childrens Home, Ovenden in 1919.
Emily Kitchenman had two sisters - Ada and Alice - and a brother Ernest but I don't know anything about these familes other than Alice married a Jim Horsman and Alice a Horace Fickling.
I am trying to find out any information on where my grandmother was sent to after leaving Craigie Lee .
I believe she would have left Craigie Lee in about 1920 ish .She went into service possibly in Bradford returning to Halifax in 1929 after the birth of my father . She died in 1932 in Halifax.
