PAUL COLLINS, of Bradford, writes after reading our souvenir supplement to mark Bradford being named UNESCO World City of Film: “I remember one made-for-television film made in Bradford that I think is forgotten now.
“I cannot remember the name of the film but I think it was shown in two parts on TV, in the late 1980s or early 1990s. I worked in Little Germany at the time and Peckover Street was turned into a street from Sixties Berlin complete with a ‘Checkpoint Charlie’ and American and Russian soldiers.
“I don’t know who starred in it but David McCallum, of Man From Uncle fame, played a Russian officer.
“At the beginning of the film, when an American jeep sped through the streets of Berlin (Little Germany), you could see a Bradford double-decker bus going up Church Bank!
“I’ve not read anything about this film since it was shown and I cannot remember what it was called. Maybe your readers can help?”
