MOBILE libraries may now be a thing of the past with the majority falling victim to council budget cuts.
The introduction of gadgetry and mobile technology has changed the way we live our lives and access information.
Book lending is something many no longer need to do with the ease and availability of e-readers but there is something special about swapping books from a library.
Firstly, there is the thrill of finding the book you want to read by actually thumbing through copies on a shelf instead of scrolling down a list of front covers on a screen.
As well as reading the blurb on the back, to see whether it's the tome for you, you get to feel the book and flick through the pages, it is a tangible exercise.
And then you take it to the counter for it to have that all important stamp telling you when it needs to be returned.
Back in the day visiting the mobile library as it trundled into the village brought excitement for bookworms who were keen to get their hands on their next tome.
For young readers, a visit from the mobile library literally stirred their imagination as they hunted for books along wooden shelves within its cosy confines.
Can you remember your first read or your most favourite book you borrowed? May be our dip into the archives will help you reminisce.
