25 years ago: Surgeons revealed plans to carry out the first transplant operations ever performed in Bradford, with a team at the city's Royal Infirmary hospital preparing a programme of lung-swap surgery to save the lives of stricken patients.
50 years ago: England fast bowler Freddie Trueman was told that any future breaches of his contract would result in dismissal by Yorkshire CCC during their game against the touring New Zealanders at Bradford's Park Avenue. He was punished after agreeing a book deal without the club's consent.
