25 years ago: Hundreds of people cheered, waved flags, and let off balloons to celebrate the official £260,000 re-opening of Steeton and Silsden railway station, which had been axed almost 30 years earlier in the Beeching rail cuts of 1961.
50 years ago: A two-year-old girl fell 15ft from an upstairs bedroom window while trying to retrieve a vase full of flowers at The Garnett Hotel in Bradford, but escaped with only a bruise on her forehead.
