25 years ago: Magistrates heard that a Bradford milkman had attacked a rival with a wooden club in a row over allegedly poaching customers, with their brawl in the street becoming so frightening for one of the milkmen's 13 year-old helpers, he ran off to "cower behind a tree".

50 years ago: Bradford City Police chiefs announced they were seeking authorisation to add 106 men and women, plus an extra 25 civilian staff, to the force, stating the number of 999 emergency calls had increased by more than a third since 1958.
