25 years ago: Bob Sowman, the chairman of governors at Bradford College and Labour councillor for Undercliffe, warned that courses due to start in September would have to be scrapped unless City Hall chiefs pledged £600,000 towards new buildings to create extra teaching space.

50 years ago: Bingley Council announced it was giving consideration to radical plans to overhaul the town centre, with the proposed changes including the demolition of most of the buildings on the Main Street to be replaced by a traffic-free, arcade-style undercover shopping area.
