Founder of Bradford store Busbys’ Ltd., Mr. Ernest W. Busby had died at his home, Larkfield, Leylands Lane, Bradford, aged 87. Having had an operation in February, Mr. Busby had been ill for some time, even though he had still managed to go to church the morning before. Starting his business life in 1886, Mr. Busby was apprenticed to a drapery business in London, working twelve to fourteen hours per day for a six-day week, sleeping on the premises. In common with the far-seeing business men of his day. Mr Busby had a determined ambition to own his own business investing all his savings in an old established drapery business in Kirkgate, in 1908.
