Public health chiefs in the Bradford district are still strongly urging people in the swine flu ‘at risk’ groups and children under five to be vaccinated, despite a substantial drop in cases.
Dr Anita Sims director of public health for Bradford and Airedale said: “The number of people needing swine flu medication and attending GPs with swine flu symptoms has substantially decreased in the last few weeks.
“In response to this we have set up five smaller anti-viral collection points at pharmacists in the community rather than one large central one.
“However, we would still strongly urge everyone within the ‘at risk groups’ and children aged between the ages of six months and under five years to take up the offer of vaccination”.
Figures for December 10 to January 8 reveal there were 33 new hospital admissions with flu-like symptoms over the past month in Bradford and Airedale There have been four swine flu-related deaths reported for the period within Yorkshire and Humber.
