Stuart McCall has contacted Rochdale boss Keith Hill to set the record straight over new signing Simon Ramsden.
McCall was unhappy to see Hill’s suggestion that City had offered a lot more for the defender but were denying it.
Hill also claimed that the money being saved on cutting wages elsewhere was being used to fund the signing. But McCall rang Spotland today to clear the air.
He said: “I told Keith exactly what we are paying and it’s the same as they offered. He’d been misled into thinking it was more.
“Simon fits in the wage budget that we have set for this season. There’s no way I’m asking players to take cuts to use the money elsewhere.
“That’s the truth 100 per cent. I’ve explained all this to Keith, he’s accepted it and hopefully that’s the end of the matter.”
