Simon Grayson has been appointed the new manager of Leeds.

The 39-year-old has left Blackpool for Elland Road to replace Gary McAllister, who was sacked on Sunday after 11 months at the helm.

Grayson, who lives near Skipton, is a lifelong Leeds fan and began his 17-year playing career with the club, making two senior appearances.

He also had a brief spell on loan with Bradford City under Nicky Law.

Grayson took charge of Blackpool in 2006 and steered them to promotion through the League One play-offs.

Grayson's first game in charge will be at home to League One leaders Leicester, another of his former clubs, on Boxing Day.
