Darren Moore last night returned to Yorkshire – by signing for Barnsley.

The long-time City target, pictured, joined the Tykes on a two-year deal from Derby.

Stuart McCall had been keen to bring back Moore but called off his chase when he snapped up Graeme Lee from Doncaster.

Moore, who held talks at Valley Parade over a possible return, was also wanted by Leicester.

But he instead opted for a switch to Oakwell; a move which will allow him to play Championship football and not have to uproot his family.

Barnsley boss Simon Davey said: “We have been looking to increase competition at the back and have brought in a player with a proven pedigree.

“Darren has won promotion four times from the Championship during his career. We are delighted to have persuaded him to join up despite interest from a lot of other clubs.”

Moore has been promoted from the second tier with City, West Brom and Derby and was named the player of the year by Rams fans last season.

I think the FANS should thank Darren for letting (or not letting) his name be associated with City in order to sell a few more season tickets. It would have been a signing someone had heard of.

Actually happier we've got Lee in the end, for less money and a better age. I think its a disgrace the way hes kept the club hanging on and essentially his friends on the coaching staff and I've lost a lot of resepect for the him

I also think Lee is a more positive signing. Certainly a lot more mobile and agile, and has a few years on Moore too. Not a great loss in the scheme of things.

So thanks for letting us use your name to sell a few more season tickets Daz, we couldn't have done it without ya fella.

Something like that senseless? I hope everybody else realises you are correct as always and follows suit, we don't want them to look foolish and not appreciate the underhand way the club went about this, making Daz wait before we would allow him to sign for someone else. You really are a complete know nowt aren't you?

DonHutchinsAfro (whatever that means) - Read it correctly - Darren was obviously a party to it, there was no way he would come to Bradford. Lets be right you have to be on the down to consider City although I suppose they must have some goods point - not many lease a ground from a pension fund.

well done DARREN-- all those extra tickets you sold for us. I am really pleased that by not denying you were interested in City you caused several thousand unfortunate souls to purchase season tickets. They were , of course, only too pleased to be conned and fully expected to see your overgrown frame frollicking on the VP turf yet again!
There must be queues all around the ground--everyone wanting their money back!
SENSELESS-- when you got married and your wife stated her vows she said " I will".

BET YOU ASKED HER WHY?

You are so paranoid about City and about anything which happens at City:everything has to have a hidden agenda:everything has to be done for some underhand reason.

And now you carp on about the ground being leased from a pension fund! If that deal had not been done perhaps there would be no VALLEY PARADE or BCAFC now and then how would you have filled your days?

Paranoid but has probably been involved on some form of psychopathic/sociopa
thic activity in the past but has not yet been caught.

Well your response tells me and all City fans that you certainly are not, otherwise you would know what my name meant. Now this point is proved beyond doubt, maybe you would do us all a favour and either state your true allegience or leave the true City fans to comment on the goings on at VP that we are party to, and that which all fans of all clubs are party to, ie the press reports, the public house rumours and the totally made up 'true source' stories.

Can someone else please tell me who you are, if they know. Perhaps I am missing out as you know me if not personally. Did you used to serve me drinks at the Club if so I can see why you comment in the way you do, is it a little extra income.

Tyker - at least I am married to a LADY.

If as you say Lee is a more positive signing then surely he should help sell more season tickets, but he wont, which suggests that most people dont agree with you. Whatever you say about season tickets, the whole bogof plan has been a dismal flop anyway, despite hordes of blindly loyal or stupid (or both) followers coming on here at regular intervals and claiming all sorts of big names would be signing soon, well they havent! just the usual crop of has beens, freebies etc. Delusions of grandeur, i think its called.

As we are still looking for a keeper, what about Michael Oakes? He was released by Cardiff at the end of the season and I don't believe he has yet signed for anyone else. He is over 6ft and despite being aged 34, he is still very mobile.

Alternatively, what about a cheeky loan of Kasper Schmeichel or Ross Turnbull (again)? We might even be able to persuade Fulham to let us have one of their keepers, with Antti Niemi possibly available or the season long loan of their young keeper, Ricardo Batista. He spent the last couple of years on loan at Wycombe and MK Dons and is probably available again with Fulham signing two new keepers during the summer. What do you think??

As for strikers, are we still interested in Halifax's Jon Shaw or Town's Luke Beckett? It has also gone quiet with Michael Boulding, but I don't expect him to be playing in claret & amber next season anyway. As an alternative, what about Adam Proudlock as he is currently without a club but has a decent record as a striker?

city have signed some good players and we must remember we are in the bottom league and the only way is up,and this season we are going up! forget people moaning about price of season tickets or signing bruno from derby- be realistic £150 for season ticket is good value, if not fans with a family or with a mortgage will struggle to afford higher ticket prices, lee will be a good captain for city

I'm starting to believe that Nonsense is actually Colin Todd - an utter disdain for the Mighty Bantams, delusions of grandeur, an inability to distance himself from supporters who feel his senile ramblings are an utter waste of oxygen, and trying hard (but failing miserably) to once again undermine what is going to be a very successful season - the evidence is stacking up. How else would he have all of this 'amazing inside-knowledge' of the club...?

Come on tyker, bet you would do a change for a week. Just cannot see the logic in your assumptions but indicates from previous postings that you yourselve are obsessed and have a deep knowledge of mental health. Note you never appear to comment on the POSITIVE aspects of City so must have a little SENSE.

If you haven't got a clue who Don Hutchins is, like I said you are not a City, never were and thank god never will be. As for who I actually am, just a poster the same as yourself, except I don't post unfounded rubbish, don't irritate the life out of people, don't make false statements I can't back up, and am generally a more well rounded and balanced individual than you could ever hope to be. Oh and am also 100% Claret and Amber.

100% claret and amber seems to sum up your life. Do not claim to not publishing unfounded rubbish when you even mention city. Lets be right city have had their day and it has gone. Sit back relax and don't get upset at my comments. You obviosly seem to hold tourself in high esteem and always have to get at others who you have no knowledge of who they are. Sorry but your postings show a high degree of insecurity.

Inadequate bile is not a retort. The whole post you made below is nothing but pure tripe. And to get upset at your comments would mean I actually held them in some sort of esteem, and that they had one ounce of truth or sense in them, they do not, so I do not. I see through you like the poor offcast you are. How does it feel to be so demerited? Nothing you say makes sense, and nothing you write is worth reading, can't you see the sense in any of that? You are pointless, the stupid comments regarding City that run through all your posts do not contain ONE fact. Back to the old peoples bins, boy.

And whilst we are on the subject of using 'big name' signings to boost ticket sales, how about the email sent by Nottm Forest today to tell all their fans about the capture of Andy Cole, at the bottom of said media was a big announcement about the ticket office being open this Saturday for the first set of season ticket sales. Best get straight on them Knownowt, what an underhand ploy to get people to part with their money. Just think of all the poor old befuddled ladies who will go buy a season ticket instead of a caulie, they will be sorely conned won't they mate?

EMB Bantam, Guiseley says...

DHA - loving it mate! Keep up the good work.

Miss NonSense & Sensibility should take the special brown bus out to Richmond. There's a negative sheep out there called Shaun with similar views on City. If the ladyboy packs her wellies & a buffet I'm sure they could have hours of fun!
