Naomi Broady, who was suspended by the Lawn Tennis Association two months ago for "unprofessional behaviour" and a "lack of discipline" has started to get back on the right track.
The 17-year-old former Woodhouse Grove pupil last week reached the semi-finals of the $10,000 tournament in Sunderland, only losing out 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 to top seed Christina Wheeler (Australia).
Earlier Broady, who was unseeded, defeated seventh seed Elizabeth Thomas (Great Britain) 6-3, 6-2 in the second round and third seed Irina Kuzmina (latvia) 6-1, 6-1 in the quarter-finals.
Broady's crime was to publish unflattering pictures of herself on the social networking site bebo.
Meanwhile, Katie O'Brien - another old Grovian - was defeated in the semi-finals of the $25,000 Barossa Women's International tournament in Nuriootpa, Australia.
Top seed O'Brien lost 6-1, 6-3 to the unseeded Irina Pavlovic (France) having previously won three matches.
