Yorkshire Women's Division Two: Pudsey 2 Bingley Bees 0

PUDSEY were an unknown quantity to the visitors as, surprisingly, the two teams have never met, despite years of league hockey.

It was a frustrating first half for Bingley, with lots of physical challenges from the hosts, and the visitors struggled to find their rhythm.

Despite fairly even possession, Pudsey went two goals up from well-worked short corners.

However, the Bees came back stronger in a much-improved second-half display after a positive half-time team talk that concentrated on strategies worked on during training sessions.

The visitors controlled the play, had more attacks and more shots on goal, with an excellent effort under pressure from Jane Sharkey being saved on the line.

Unfortunately for them, the Bees couldn’t capitalise on this pressure, leaving the final score at 2-0.

The visitors are feeling positive though, with several new young players coming on well.

The team worked hard in support of each other, which was reflected in the widespread vote for player of the match, but that ultimately went to Claire Staniland for her solid work in central defence.

In Yorkshire Men's Division Four North, Bingley Bees lost 10-1 at Harrogate Fourths.
