BINGLEY Bees have gained another valuable point in their fight against relegation from Yorkshire Men's Division Four North.

In a feisty match, the Bees ground out a well-earned 2-2 draw at lower mid-table Mirfield.

There were no goals in the first half, despite some pacy and fluid play, but the visitors fell behind six minutes into the second half.

A defensive mix-up ten minutes later enabled Gavin Waddell to equalise and, although both sides then had chances, Mirfield took the lead again three minutes from time.

The Bees' response was more immediate this time, skipper Ben Clough's accurate reverse-stick shot putting the ball in the corner of the goal.

All Bingley's other matches fell foul of the weather.

In the Premier Division, Bradford notched a vital 5-2 win at Rotherham as they scored three goals in the final quarter to see off their relegation-threatened hosts, who had twice levelled.

The visitors gave Dave Carter a debut in goal in the absence of Danny Hardaker, with James Hunt and Adam Ashton resuming their partnership up front.

Hunt's low shot was well saved but Bradford made their possession count midway through the first half when Hunt drew the keeper to give Ashton a close-range finish at the far post.

Nick Smith and Kasim Mughal had chances to increase the lead before the interval but Carter was much in action in the second half as Rotherham pushed for an equaliser.

Ashton and Mughal had chances to increase Bradford's advantage before Rotherham levelled midway through the half.

Hunt's powerful reverse-stick shot looked to have given the visitors a decisive goal, only for Rotherham to equalise again. But the tiring hosts could not cope with the pace of Ashton and Hunt.

Mughal tapped home to make it 3-2 and Ashton was felled on the edge of the D by the on-rushing keeper to give Hunt the chance to score a penalty stroke, before man of the match Hunt completed his hat-trick with a powerful low shot with the last play.

Three wins and a draw in their last five games have helped Bradford pull away from the relegation places and they next face mid-table Sheffield University Bankers Thirds at Bradford Girls' Grammar School on Saturday (1.45pm).
