BINGLEY Bees scored in the fifth minute of their visit to Acomb via a powerful drag flick by Ben Clough following a short corner.

But it proved a false dawn as the much-depleted visitors, who eventually had to play a man short, were beaten 7-1 in Yorkshire Men's Division Four North.

The lead only lasted a few minutes as third-placed Acomb levelled the score with a penalty flick – and they added two more goals before half-time.

The Bees fared little better in the second half, conceding a further four goals in the second-bottom club's worst defeat of the season.

However, they will be hungry for points on Saturday when they host City of York Fifths at Bradford Grammar School (1.00) in the last match before the mid-season break.

The visitors are only two points and two places better off than the Bees, who would climb out of the relegation zone with a win.

Bingley Bees went down 2-0 at home to University of Leeds Seconds in the Yorkshire Women's Premier Division at Bradford Grammar School.

The second team, who are also second from bottom, lost 5-0 at City of York Fourths in Division Four.
