Bingley Bees were able to end their season with a double celebration as they added a cup final victory to their Yorkshire League title.

The Division Five North champions went into the Men’s League Cup C decider against Boston Spa Thirds at Halifax in high spirits, having already beaten their opponents twice in the league.

And the Bees’ confidence proved justified as they emerged 2-1 winners thanks to goals by Jason Johnson and a late Matthew Clough winner after a scoreless first half.

Johnson opened the scoring with a strong shot (pictured) low to the left corner, only for Boston to quickly equalise.

The outcome was settled when the Bees were awarded a penalty corner just seconds before the full-time whistle.

Ben Clough’s initial shot hit a foot so the corner was retaken and this time Robbie Manning’s shot was blocked by the keeper but fell nicely for Matthew Clough to tuck away the winning goal.

Stephen Booth was named man of the match for his strong running and passing right to the very end, which included winning the decisive penalty corner.
