Chris Carver of Otley Athletics Club has been selected to represent the UK at the World 24-Hour Run Championship in Brive, France during May.
The 46-year-old runner, originally from Bradford, has found his forte in the ultra-distance event – 34 years after taking up running.
After finishing fifth at the inaugural Commonwealth Championships in September, and capturing a team silver medal, Carver – who has taken advice from some of the world’s leading distance runners – is feeling confident ahead of his next challenge on May 13-14.
Last year, Carver raised over £2,200 for men’s cancer charity Orchid. Running from Otley to London, he covered an amazing 218 miles in just 46 hours.
The charity is a cause close to his heart as he himself had surgery to remove testicular and lung cancer tumours in the 1990s.
