TOM Adams (Ilkley Harriers) made it three wins in a row at last Tuesday's BUNNY RUN at Penistone Country Park in Haworth.

He had won the first the previous Tuesday, and in between won the BAILDON BOUNDARY WAY on home soil by an astonishing 15 minutes.

Thirty walkers enjoyed this off-road half-marathon, setting off before the 345 runners.

Adams won in 76min 41sec, the fastest since Adams' own 74:32 in 2012 and 1997, when three runners matched this year's time.

Skyrac's Dave Stoneham beat Shaun Wilkinson (Keighley & Craven) for second in 92:12.

Idle's Andrew Britton performed creditably in eighth (95:08).

The organising club's Kirsty Allen (Baildon Runners) was first lady home (1hr 41min 46sec), with Skyrac's new recruit, Donna Edmondson-Booker, second (1:42:39). Claire Cooper (Keighley & Craven) finished third.

The second BUNNY RUN last Tuesday, won by Adams, was overshadowed by Bingley's Ian Holmes breaking Steve Oldfield's over-50s course record by 18 seconds in 16min 34sec, 72 seconds off Adams.

First over-40 lady was the remarkable Kirsty Hall (Wharfedale).

She explained: "This time last year I suffered a serious knee injury, which meant I had to endure months in a leg brace, followed by intricate ACL reconstruction surgery.

"There were times, especially when I had to learn to literally walk again, that I thought I would never be able to run again."

Next month's ESHOLT JOHN CARR 5K SERIES takes a modified route through the Yorkshire Water grounds.

It becomes an out-and-back, starting from the Apperley Bridge end of The Avenue, with the hairpin at the end of the filter-bed road by Esholt village.

It remains one of the fastest 5K courses in Yorkshire, with plenty of national-level times and personal bests.

The wider start and chip-timing allows a higher capacity of 450 runners. While car parking remains limited, the new Apperley Bridge station is next to the start. Online entries are on the Racebest site.

Ilkley Harriers are launching a BEGINNERS' ZERO TO 5K CHALLENGE on Tuesday, May 3 – a six-week course. Newcomers should meet at Ilkley Lawn Tennis & Squash Club at 7pm.
