Scott retains northern title
COLIN Scott, the Yorkshire Race Walking Club 10,000-metre champion, retained his title when he led all the way in the Northern Winter League race at Whitley Mount Sports Centre in Cleckheaton.
Edinburgh-based Scott finished with over a minute to spare from team-mate Neil Armitage.
Leading positions: 1 C Scott (Yorkshire Race Walking Club) 62min 50sec, 2 N Armitage (YRWC) 64:24, 3 D Jackson (York CIU) 65:41, 4 D Cole (York CIU) 65:41, 5 M Byrne (Redcar RWC) 68:11, 6 K French (YRWC) 74:41. Veteran's 5000 metres: 1 P Briggs (YRWC) 42:40. Team result: 1 Yorkshire Race Walking Club, 2 York CIU.
