UNFAZED by the pressure of competing on home soil, Bingley teenager Sam Bilham continued his winning streak in the weekend Trackrod Rally Yorkshire.

The 17-year-old, who had secured the Rally First one-litre class at the previous event in Shropshire, notched another class victory in the British Trial and Rally Drivers' Association National Rally Series, which boosted his chances of lifting the overall junior title.

With regular co-driver Graham Wild not available for the event, Bilham's dad Tony filled the breach in Dalby Forest.

The Next Big Step award winner Bilham said: "It was great to have dad next to me on my local rally and he did really well.

"It's been a while since he co-drove competitively but that didn't show and we gelled together really well from the very first stage.

"Dad knows the stages on this rally like the back of his hand as he has helped organise events in Dalby for many years, so it was good to get his experience in the car.

"We had a trouble-free day and I really enjoyed the event and it felt really special competing in front of my home crowd.

"I think dad was quietly impressed with my driving on gravel too, considering it's only my first year in the forest."

Bilham junior is also seeking a place on the overall podium – and will know where he stands after the Cambrian Rally in North Wales on Saturday, October 18.

But his attention will now turn back to asphalt and the Formula1000 series as he heads to South Wales for the Peter Lloyd Stages Rally on Sunday in what has been a busy year for the MSA Academy member.
