To celebrate the launch of the new Series 3 saloon and their involvement in the Olympics, BMW dealers JCT600 challenged East Bradford Cycling Club members to ride the 338 kilometres from Bradford to London on the club’s computerised indoor roller racing equipment at their Sticker Lane showrooms.

As an incentive, JCT600 offered to match any sponsorship money that the club’s younger members could raise, and they gave them a whole weekend to do it.

However, not only did the children achieve thei r target on day one, but they also “rode back to Bradford” on day two for a grand total of 676km in exactly ten hours.

JCT600’s staff also tried the rollers by riding a two-kilometre leg of the long-distance relay on the BMW road bike the showroom had loaned the club for their adult riders.

Olympic diving hopeful Jenny Cowen from Keighley also had a bash, and said: “That was an interesting experience but I think I’ll stick to diving”.

The final two kilometres were shared between Laura Asquith and Harry Fox, both aged four, and six-year- olds Olivia Fox and Sally Asquith.

Club coach and event organiser Mandy Parker said: “Our kids rose to the challenge brilliantly.

"We expected them to get to London, but to get there and back again exceeded all our expectations.

"We would like to thank JCT600 for the opportunity to show what today’s youngsters can do, and for their generous offer to match any sponsorship money we raised.

"This will help us to set up our new youth development group to aid those older children, who need to move on from the Kids Saturday Bike Club to the next stage in their cycling career”.
