Cream of the crop are at Clayton for Victor Ludorum Invitational Merit

Barry Turnbull (Ilkley) won the Aire Wharfe Champion of Champions, defeating Steve Calvert (Rawdon) 21-15 in the final.

This season's competition winners and average winners competed at Idle, and Turnbull won his three group games and beat Steve Griffiths (Myrtle) 21-13 in the semi-finals.

Calvert defeated Brenda Cromwell (Burley-in-Wharfedale) 21-7 in the other semi-final.

Black Swan A won the Aire Wharfe Jennings Crackles competition, beating Greenbottom A 215-176 in the final at Shipley Club.

Despite given their opponents a 63 point handicap start, Black Swan produced a classy display to win by 39 chalks, with only one loser.

Wharfemeadows B won the Aire Wharfe Dobson Shield, defeating Knaresborough B 229-209 in the final at Dacre Banks.

Wharfemeadows had a 21-point handicap advantage and almost held that throughout, winning by 20 chalks.

Jack Dyson and Robert Hitchen (Thongsbridge/Lower Hopton) and Adrian Leach and Mick Robinson (Morton House) were the first qualifiers in the 2017 Farsley Winter Pairs. Qualifying continues on Saturday and Sunday, with spaces available.
