BRADFORD suffered their first Federation defeat, going down 21-11 in disappointing fashion to local rivals Leeds B, who won the Division Five championship as a result.

The home match was played at West Bradford, which seemed a strange choice of venue with not many Bradford players knowing the green, and the hosts could only manage five winners.

However, with great performances from Scott Bloodworth (Ladyhill) 21-7 and Tracy Preston (Shipley Club) 21-9, Bradford edged the aggregate by 18 chalks.

The away match was at Castleford Town, with Paul Wilczynski (Shipley Club) 21-1 the pick of four Bradford winners as they lost the aggregate by 24 chalks.

Bradford soon realised they had pipped Warrington by just two points to gain promotion in second place but the selectors will need to look at both team and green selection ahead of next season's campaign in Division Four.

Airedale A finished with a 17-15 win over Fylde A in Division Two of the Federation but it was not enough to gain promotion as they finished third.

The away match at Stalmine BC saw Airedale only manage four winners, Luke Sandilands (Pudsey) starring with a 21-9 card, as Airedale lost by 11 chalks, winning the overall aggregate by just a single chalk to guarantee a narrow victory.
