SCOTT Bloodworth (Ladyhill) won the Ben Ramsden Merit at Wibsey Park, defeating Neil Tordoff (Wyke) 21-13 in the final.

Bloodworth, who recently lost in the semi-finals of the Bradford Merit, captured his first Bradford League title with an excellent display throughout.

It was great to see a final between two very under-rated bowlers who have both recently represented Bradford in the Federation, with Tordoff even making the Yorkshire Parks team, and Bloodworth knocking on the door for next season.

Scores from Ben Ramsden Merit – Quarter-finals: Scott Bloodworth (Ladyhill) 21 Andrew Bailey (Drighlington) 16, Chris Mordue (Pudsey) 21 Iain Brown (Wibsey) 15, Neil Tordoff (Wyke) 21 Kevin Wood (Spen Victoria) 14, Andrew Wood (Spen Victoria) 21 Gary Woodhead (Wibsey) 14. Semi-finals: Bloodworth 21 Mordue 11, Tordoff 21 Wood 13. Final: Bloodworth 21 Tordoff 13.

The semi-finals of the Yorkshire Cup, Henry Taylor Cup, Eric Hutchinson Memorial Trophy and Derrick Radley Cup take place on Saturday.

Clayton Victoria take on Crosland Moor A, knowing that victory will put them into the Yorkshire Cup final, most likely against Thongsbridge A, who are strong favourites in the other semi-final against Canalside.

Akroydon Victoria are the remaining Bradford League team in the Henry Taylor Cup, facing Lockwood Cons A.

Hove Edge A face Lower Hopton, while Brighouse Sports play Whitby in the semi-finals of the Hutchinson, with both Bradford League teams favourites to progress.

The Derrick Radley final is guaranteed to have a Bradford League representative, with Crowghyll Park taking on Guiseley A in one of the semi-finals.
