WASHBURN VALLEY FISHERY

Catch details for week ending May 6 – Day ticket: Fewston 22, Swinsty 17, Thruscross (catch & return) 3. Total fish caught: Fewston 124, Swinsty 62, Thruscross 13. Average per road: Fewston 3.8, Swinsty 4.2, Thruscross 4.3. The heaviest fish caught was a 5lb 6oz rainbow trout by D Gill using cats whisker. Fewston and Swinsty: Fish can now be seen feeding as they just show in the surface film taking nymph and buzzers. Good hatches of fly in the warmer afternoon sun. Thruscross: A much better week thanks to cold mornings and nice days, with fly hatching. Buzzers of nymphs catching wild brown trout.

Catch details for week ending April 28 – Day ticket: Fewston 23, Swinsty 6, Thruscross (catch & return) 2. Total fish caught: Fewston 155, Swinsty 25, Thruscross 7. Average per rod: Fewston 6.7, Swinsty 43.2, Thruscross 3.5. The heaviest fish caught was a 4lb 8oz rainbow trout by Mark Rayner (Otley) using mallard and claret. Fewston: Introduced cold water has kept trout sitting deep. Many lures used to tempt fish into feeding. Swinsty: Water level is back to full so fish moving back to feed in newly flooded areas where fly life is hatching. Thruscross: Another difficult week to test wild brown trout anglers’ resolve. Fish can be seen feeding close to the banks as fly hatch off.

BRADFORD SEA AC

Our next meeting is on Tuesday at the New Inn, East Bierley at 8pm. At this meeting we will be giving a tackle talk on how to tie rigs successfully. Our next trip is on Sunday, May 27 to Rhyl. If you would like to book on this trip, come to the meeting or ring Dave on 07711-987833. In the meantime, if you would like to fish at Whitby next week, please ring Dave and he will try to arrange a trip if enough people want to go. The cod fishing is improving at Whitby, with some big bags being caught.

BRADFORD No 1 AA

Queen Mary’s Ponds at Ripon fishing well for tench to 5lb and bream to 8lb on pellet, meat or corn. Kirklees Lagoon and Knotford Lagoon are worth a visit in the coming weeks with good catches of carp and tench being reported by anglers.

LISTERHILLS AA

Last week’s match at Pilley’s Dam was won by D Jackson with a bream and a tench for 5lb 9oz. After several second places, this is his first win. 2 W Barker 2lb 4oz, 3 E Harrison 1lb 6oz. The draw for tomorrow’s open match at Rodley is at 9am by the bridge. Carp to 18½lb at Pilley’s, plus odd good bream and tench, roach slow to respond. Match secretaries’ new contact number is 07591-085487.

BRADFORD CITY AA

Members are reminded that the small lake at Staveley will be closed on Sunday for a local challenge match. There are a few places left and anyone wanting to book a place for this or the two remaining matches should contact the match secretary on 07875-275749 or 01423-523368.

HEWENDEN AC

The next coarse match will be this Sunday, with a 9am draw in the car park. All members welcome. Bonus peg will give potential winnings of £250+. Nearside draw for elderly and disabled, available from the committee by request a minimum of 48 hours prior to the start of the match.

CENTRAL AC

Our first match is at The Oaks, Sessay, on Sunday. Meet at venue 8am, fishing 9am to 3pm. Two keepnets are required at this venue. Feeder pellets must be purchased at the venue.

BINGLEY AC

The next match is at Coppice Pond on Sunday, May 20, draw 8am. Due to cancellations there are a couple of pegs left for this match. Coppice will be closed to pleasure anglers until after the match. The canal is fishing well for roach and skimmers early morning and late evening when boat traffic is slow.

FIELD AC

The winner of the match on the main lake at Birkwood Farm was Martin Sereika with 44lb 2oz. 2 Barry Frankland 29lb 4oz, 3 Keith Spink 27lb 10oz . The next match is on Sunday, May 27 on the Spring Lake at Brafferton. Any member wanting to book on should telephone Mick on 07966-274476 Bierley AC

Last Sunday’s match fished on the second pond was gruelling due to the previous night’s frost: 1 M Marshall (5lb 2oz), 2 D Glenton (4lb 14oz), 3 J Sinns (1lb 10oz).
