BIERLEY AC

The recent fully-booked Captain Mannering 24-hour carp match was a dour affair, with only two fish caught and these in the last two hours of the match. Result: 1 Darryl Hunter 10lb 8oz, 2 Luke Jackson 3oz (yes, 3oz!) Result of Sunday, April 8 match on second pond: 1 Matty Marshall, 2 Danny Glenton 7lb 12oz, 3 Paul Coope 7lb. Result of Sunday, April 22 match on second pond, fished in atrocious weather: 1 Jason Hump 11lb 10oz, 2 Danny Glenton 10lb 8oz, 3 Paul Coope 7lb. Jason returned the following day and promptly netted in excess of 50lb of fish on the first pond! Wally of the Month was easily won by the member who recently fished peg five on the first pond and threw a large number of cigarette butts in the water’s edge with the bins 25 yards away!

WASHBURN VALLEY FISHERY

Catch details for week ending April 22 – Day ticket: Fewston 25, Swinsty 12, Thruscross (catch and return) 1. Total fish caught: Fewston 236, Swinsty 85, Thruscross 3. Average per rod: Fewston 9.4, Swinsty 7.1, Thruscross 3.0. The heaviest fish caught was a 5lb rainbow trout by M Stephenson of York using Black Pennez. Fewston and Swinsty: Increased amount of fly life spurring fish to feed at all levels of water. Natural patterns, Black Pennez and Bibio taking good fish. Cat’s Whisker most productive lure. Thruscross: Bad weather putting most anglers off fishing here but wild brown trout fishing is fairly consistent.

BRADFORD No 1 AA

Result of last Sunday’s members’ match at Raskelf: 1 James Vickerman, 46lb 13½oz of F1’s and tench on meat and pellet; 2 Andy Jacques, 30lb 12oz; 3 Pete Vickerman 29lb 14oz of F1’s and ide. The next members’ match is at Rawcliffe Bridge on the Aire and Calder Canal on Sunday, May 20. Members are reminded that they must take all litter home with them afterwards as some waters have been badly affected, including Raskelf Lake and Kirklees Lagoon. The Aire and Calder Canal is worth a visit this week for roach and skimmers on maggot or worm.

BRADFORD & DISTRICT SEA AC

Our next meeting is on Tuesday, May 15 at the New Inn, East Bierley (8pm). At this meeting, we will be giving a tackle talk on how to tie rigs succesfully, and any new members should find this interesting. Our next trip is on Sunday, May 27 to Rhyl. If you would like to book on this trip, come to the meeting or ring Dave on 07711-987833. In the meantime, if you would like to fish at Whitby in the next fortnight, please ring Dave and he will try to arrange a trip if enough people want to go.

LISTERHILLS AA

Not many anglers are out owing to the poor weather conditions and this has also been reflected with catch results. Result of Saturday’s open match at Rodley: 1 M Mannion, 2 G Kitchen, 3= D Highley, W Barker, E Harrison. The draw for Sunday’s open match at Rodley is at Ted’s Café. Contact 07716-264441. The next members’ match is at Pilley’s Dam on Sunday, May 6. Members night fishing must first obtain a night permit at £10 for the year.

BINGLEY AC

The next match is at Coppice Pond, St Ives on Sunday, May 20, draw 8am. Coppice will be closed to pleasure anglers until after the match. To book on, contact A.Greenwood on 07971-428678, This match is nearly fully booked. One member has reported having a busy afternoon, catching roach, perch and trout at Sunnydale Reservoir.

GREAT HORTON AC

Last week’s match at Lindholme Lake Bonsai was wet and windy, with a few good weights being caught. A guest on the day was the winner. Results: 1 A Hillary, 2 P Weston, 3 P Tiffany, 4 O Hudspith, 5 M Lawson. Congratulations to the club winner, taking the golden peg prize. There was a poor turnout for the working party last Saturday and another is to be arranged.

CENTRAL AC

Our first match of the season is at The Oaks, Sessay, on Sunday, May 13. Meet at venue 8am, fishing 9am-3pm. Two keep-nets are required at this venue. All peg fees must be paid at this match.
