BRADFORD No 1 AA

RIVER levels have remained high in most of the region over the last couple of weeks but good reports have still come in from the club's stretches heading into the final weekend of the season.

Andrew Fieldhouse fished a heavily-coloured River Swale at Thornton Bridge last week and managed to tempt six chub to 4lb 11oz on bread crust.

The coarse season on rivers will be closed from next Wednesday until Friday, June 16, while the trout season will reopen on certain venues on Saturday, March 25.

A full list of stretches classed as 'trout and mixed fisheries' can be found in the yearbook but bait restrictions are in place once the trout season opens until the start of the coarse season. All club still-waters remain open all year round.

Cowthorpe will be closed on Sunday for the Charity Sweepstakes Open Match, with tickets available from Simon on 01274-571175. Widdington Hall will also be closed tomorrow for an outside booking. The first members' match at Raskelf next month is now sold out, with a waiting list in place.

Gratrix Dam is fishing very well for large chub and ide to over 4lb on waggler and maggot.

There will be an open match on the canal this Sunday. To book on, call Rick on 07815-092966. The river is fishing well, even with some extra water in it. There will be an open match using the bottom length on Sunday. To book on, and for further details, call Barry on 07902-493139.

BRADFORD PALS AC

Result of our first club match of the year, fished on Sunday at Lindholme Lakes on Willow: 1 Steve Barker 46lb 12oz, 2= Bernard Hook and Barry 'The Boat' Franklyn 31lb, 4 Pete Fraser 27lb 6oz. The match was fished in cold and torrential rain and gale-force winds from start to finish, so well done to all of the 18 anglers who stuck it out to the very end. Our next match is on Sunday, March 19 at Brafferton Lakes. We are on Ghost Lake and have the whole lake. The draw is at 9am and the on-site cafe opens at 7.30am. Membership of the club is now full.

BRADFORD SEA AC

Next month's trip to Hartlepool has only one or two places available, so if you want to go you will have to act fast by calling Dave on 07711-987833. All our dates are on Facebook. On the east coast, recent trips saw an upturn in catches. Uptiding close in, plenty of codling up to 5lb were being caught, while on the Mersey at Liverpool they are still catching the odd cod but plenty of whiting and thornbacks are being caught. This month's meeting on Tuesday, March 21 is our 2016 trophy presentation evening, which includes a buffet.

GREAT HORTON AC

Result of our well-attended Sunday match at Raker Lakes on Horseshoe Lake: 1 O Hudspith 23lb 7oz, 2 T Whaling 16lb 8oz, 3 J Powell 15lb 14oz, 4 P Corfield 13lb 9oz. For most of the match it was cold and raining. Only two carp were caught, while all the rest were silvers. Our next match is at Sykehouse on Sunday, March 26. Anyone not available should call Des or Joe.

BINGLEY AC

There is a working party at Coppice Pond this Sunday (10am) to continue with fencing and planting. Volunteers are welcome. The coarse season on rivers closes next Wednesday but reopens on Friday, March 24 for trout fishing (fly and worm only).
