BAILDON A face a tough challenge this season in Division Two of the Bradford Table Tennis League.

They finished runners-up in Division Three last season and are in their highest league placing for many years.

Their hopes of staying in Division Two have been given a boost with the return of Ian Warner from Hermits. Warner is a consistent and proven performer at this level and averaged 75 per cent for Hermits D last season.

He will spearhead their challenge alongside Tim Williams, who lost only three times in winning the Division Three averages last season.

Lee Matthews has been promoted from last year's D team and the evergreen Peter Warner completes the line-up.

Ian has already made his mark in the first two weeks. Baildon lost at Pudsey A in week one but Ian was unbeaten and, in their first home match, he notched another treble against Highdale B.

Matthews showed his potential by beating George Bak and Phil Mann as Baildon led 5-3 but they had to settle for a draw when Bak took the last singles against Peter Warner and joined Mann to capture the doubles for a share of the points.

In Division Three, Baildon B were looking to follow up their opening week victory at Unity B when they welcomed Hermits G but the visitors took the honours as Les Packer won three, Joe Jonas added a brace and Tim Moran won one as Hermits were 7-3 victors.
