THERE have been no home comforts so far for Yeadon A in Division One of the Bradford Table Tennis League.

Their first three matches as hosts resulted in 6-4 defeats and they were hoping for a change of fortune against Embassy Police B but the gods were not smiling on them once again.

The visitors opened up a 3-1 lead, with Jac Dabrowski recording wins over Mark Bleakley and Fred Yeung – in both cases from 2-0 down – and the victory over Yeung proved crucial as he triumphed 17-15 in the decider.

Dabrowski won three and Paul Stephenson two as Embassy led 5-4 and the home jinx continued as Bleakley and Liang Wong went down 3-1 in the doubles for a fourth successive 6-4 reverse.

There were a couple of firsts for Fastbats, who have had a difficult start.

Fastbats A had lost five in a row in Division One but stopped the rot with a great comeback against Hermits A to share the spoils 5-5.

Hermits were in command at 5-2 up after Matthew Shaw had won three and Ben Fillingham two.

Craig Knowles and Stephen Denny had replied for Fastbats, with Tony McGowan and Knowles taking the last two singles before Denny and Knowles secured the doubles for a well-earned draw.

In Division Two, Fastbats B had lost six in succession but it was lucky seven when they faced Hermits E.

Richard Aitken was in form for Hermits with a treble but a great team effort from Fastbats led to them triumphing 6-4, with Keith Smith, Neil Foley and Sooty Adams winning two each for their first victory.
