PUDSEY A came out on top in their clash with second-placed Highdale B in Division Two of the Bradford Table Tennis League.

The teams were both unbeaten but it was Pudsey who extended their advantage, with Zoe Cheeseman the catalyst for their victory.

Pudsey opened up a 5-3 lead as Cheeseman and Doug Bartle both won two, with Richard Abrahams adding a single.

James Foster kept Highdale in touch with narrow wins over Bartle and Abrahams, while Geoff Barnes pipped Abrahams 11-9 in the fifth.

The last singles was a cliff-hanger as Cheeseman, who had not dropped a game in beating both James and Gary Foster, found Barnes a handful and had to come from 2-1 down to triumph 12-10 in the fifth and seal victory.

In Division One, Hermits B took the honours in their basement battle with Fastbats A.

Both teams had yet to win, and Fastbats took the opener through Craig Knowles but trebles from Faz Hussain and Paul Mckrieth and a brace from Greg Hill saw Hermits emerge 8-2 winners.

In Division Four, Baildon B took full advantage of leaders Hermits J having a free week by replacing them at the helm following their 8-2 success at Hermits M.

Ziga Bohus won two for Hermits but John Atkinson was unbeaten for Baildon, and Steve Crossland and Richard Stanley recorded two each.
